Our NAET experience started on March 18th, 2013. I drove to Boise with my husband, my middle son, my baby boy, and my mother-in-law to see Dr. Judit McCullough, a chiropractor. We weren't sure what to expect, though we had asked around about the technique. It is hard to explain, so I will be asking our current practitioner if I can take some pictures soon. But before we go there, let me explain how we heard about/got started with NAET.
My son, Jett, had bronchitis, pneumonia, and RSV several times from 6 months-2 years old. It left him with asthma. The asthma worsened when he was exposed to mold and cats. His cat allergy manifests with hives, swollen eyes, asthma and severe coughing. When exposed to these things, he needed rounds of steroids, breathing treatments, and was usually sick for several days.
To help, we tried limiting his exposure to the allergens, of course. However, we still needed to figure out some preventative measures. It seemed that all that was offered, though, was to medicate him with allergy medicine before exposure. The medicines made him groggy and sleepy, and my little boy is too active to be happy sleeping all the time. When his last big attack ended in our medical doctor giving us an Epi-Pen, I decided we had to figure out something else.
I had heard of other people I knew doing allergy elimination with chiropractors, so I looked into it. We started with a chiropractor close to home. We noticed a difference in the length of time of an attack. So, he could be exposed to the allergen for 15-20 minutes before he had a reaction, but the reactions were just as intense and uncomfortable.
Several friends recommended Dr. McCullough in Boise, they ranged from people with hay fever to gluten intolerance to sever eczema to asthma. My husband was also interested because he has severely dry skin, and my mother-in-law had food sensitivities she wanted figured out. So, we called, made appointments for 3 times in one week, and off we went.
